Renée Rouleau is a sought-after skincare expert and esthetician loved by celebrities, editors, bloggers and skincare obsessives from around the globe. Her unique approach to skin led her to create an extensive product line based on nine different skin types so you can get exactly what your skin needs to look and feel its best. Celebrities like Demi Lovato, Lili Reinhart, and Madelaine Petsch trust her to help them achieve skin perfection. Her popular blog, with over 1000 posts, offers her best advice with real world solutions for all to learn from.
How did you get into skincare?
I have been an esthetician for 30 years and owned my own company for 25 years- we are celebrating our 25th anniversary in August! My grandmother owned her own salon called the Powder Puff Beauty Shoppe, so I grew up watching a woman own her own business and make other women look and feel good. I was more into the skin care side than the hair side, but I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my grandmother.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I think like anyone who owns a business, you have an idea that keeps you awake at night and you have a driving force to make the dream happen. Luckily, it all worked out and we are celebrating 25 years in business this upcoming August. As an esthetician working hands-on with skin, I knew that every person's skin was complex and the product lines were only catering to the standard dry, normal, oily types so I created a line that is curated to all the unique needs someone has going on in their skin. Ultimately, they get better results when they are using products just for them.
What is you favorite thing about being a brand owner?
My days are never boring! For so many years, I wore every hat in the company- because thats what you do when you start a business. I became very well versed in many different areas of business because I had to learn them. Now, I get to play to my strengths and spend time doing what I love, but I still love to learn about all the different aspects of being a brand owner.
What are your favorite Austin spots?
The White Horse is my favorite honky-tonk ever. Nixta taqueria is fantastic! I also love hiking River Place Nature trail, and my favorite workout in Austin is at NeuFit- it's basically a body building session with muscle stimulation pads.
