The vision for AmanyZ designer bags began two decades ago in the small, West African country of Cameroon. Amany had the pleasure of learning and watching from her grandfather, a local carpenter. With nothing more than a few hand tools and a passion for his craft he created beautiful woodwork through a process called steam bending. Imbued with ancient history, steam bending is an eco-friendly process of bending wood that is almost as old as humanity itself, once critical to the construction of boats, dwellings, tools and weapons. This learned process, combined with Zama’s affection for creating aspiring art, education in architecture and her love for fashion, evoked in her admiration for designer handbags. Honoring her grandfather she has brought the ancient practice of steam-bending back to life in the creation of her unique and exclusive handbags.
